EHEDG Launches GCC Regional Section to Strengthen Hygienic Design Across the Gulf and Egypt

Now Supporting the Gulf Region and Egypt
EHEDG has launched its new Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Regional Section, expanding its global network to provide hands-on hygienic design expertise, training, and collaboration across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Egypt, which is also included in the section’s scope. The new regional section aims to strengthen local capability in hygienic design and support industry professionals, authorities, and food and beverage manufacturers across the region.
Particulate foods pose unique challenges compared to homogeneous liquids. Differences in particle size, shape, and distribution make it difficult to achieve uniform heat penetration, while standard equipment often falls short when adapted for such products. This increases the risk of fouling, contamination, and operational inefficiencies.
Following a highly engaged presence at Gulfood Manufacturing and the Dubai International Food Safety Conference, the GCC team has already begun establishing connections with local industry leaders and regulatory bodies. These interactions highlight the growing demand for high-quality hygienic design guidance and EHEDG’s role in supporting food safety improvements throughout the Gulf.
The launch of the GCC Regional Section marks a significant milestone in EHEDG’s mission to help industries implement safe, effective, and efficient hygienic design practices. The section will provide access to EHEDG training, regional events, technical expertise, and collaboration opportunities tailored to the diverse needs of the Gulf and Egypt.
Leadership Team
A dedicated leadership team will guide the development of the new section:
- Chair: Ahmad Roustom (BLÜCHER)
- Co-Chair: Matej Lah (Ecolab)
- Events & Communication: Alexander Hoier (LAMILUX)
- Treasurer & Secretary: Nasr Mahmud (ifm)
These member companies — long-standing contributors to EHEDG — play a vital role in raising awareness, shaping training activities, and supporting the implementation of hygienic design principles across the region.
A strong step forward for advancing food safety and hygienic design across the GCC and beyond.
