EHEDG's UK & Ireland Regional Section is looking to expand its Management Team with the objective of forging stronger links with food-processing equipment manufacturers and food business operators.  The introduction of Food Safety Management Systems and the scrutiny of BRCGS Issue 9 bring their own challenges and many companies are unsure of how best to meet them.  If you have experience in these areas and would be willing to share them and so guide others to 'raise their game', we would welcome your expertise.

We also recognise that the students embarking upon University Food Management courses (or perhaps taking them even though they have already begun a career in the food and beverage industry) are the Factory/Production/Safety/Hygiene managers of the future.  We are keen to help to develop their awareness of the importance of food contact materials legislation, of hygienic design, of both cleaning validation and cleaning verification, and to advise them of just where the responsibilities for ensuring compliance with the regulations actually lie.

In particular, we would wish to strengthen our relationships with the Regulators ─ the Food Standards Agency and Local Authorities' Environmental Health Officers regarding food contact materials, and the Health & Safety Executive for hygienic engineering ─ to work alongside them to support an industry which is becoming increasingly aware ─ and critical ─ of every factor which contributes to Food Safety.
