The EHEDG Working Group has developed a guideline for cleaning validation in the food sector including a description of the relevant design principles. The document gives guidance on the relevant qualification & risk evaluation methods as well as on process validation and recommended cleaning applications by describing different approaches for powder v/s liquid processes. The scope covers the characteristics of food production lines only (no pharmaceuticals) and single components are not referred to.
EHEDG Doc. 45 on "Cleaning Validation in the Food Industry – General Principles" was published in 2016 and is currently completed by additional chapters.
